Ivan, the deadliest hurricane to hit the Caribbean in a decade, pummeled Grenada, leaving death and destruction in its wake. Over 90% of the homes and buildings were severely damaged or destroyed. In a developing nation, over 60,000 people are now homeless.
Please help us help the people of Grenada. In their moment of greatest need, let us show them that we care.
We have just returned from our second trip to the island. Currently we have 10 soup kitchens set up across the island providing hot meals to thousands each day. To many of all walks of life, our meals are the only thing between them and hunger.
What can you and your church do to help?
Your church can “Adopt a Church” in Grenada and help them through the long recovery process. Your church leadership can visit the island, and develop a strong Christian relationship with a single church and pastoral staff. We can assist your church with travel and safe, comfortable accommodations.
Your youth ministry team can go to Grenada and hold Youth Rallies. 34% of the population of the island are under 14 years old, and with the destruction of most schools, there is a great opportunity to serve these children. Children do not understand what has happened or why. Your youth ministry team can make a significant impact on these children during this time.
Your church can sponsor a Christian Disaster Counselor to go to Grenada and work with victims, teachers, hospital workers and other disaster relief workers who are struggling with the devastation.
Your church can sponsor a pastor in training to attend Bible school. Most pastors are not “professionally trained” and sending someone to Bible School would give them the foundation needed to make a long term impact on the island.
